And just like that the 2021-2022 Summer Night Season comes to an end! Thanks to the volunteers, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS), MRX Yachting and the sponsors Barfoot & Thompson for a great season! We have had a blast racing each Tuesday in the MRX against both the Women’s and Open fleet, with training all done, we are now onto the Women's Nationals.
With that we’re starting to think that 3rd might be our lucky number after wrapping up the Barfoot & Thompson Women’s Keelboat National Championships for the 2nd year in a row with a 3rd place and a scoreboard throughout the event of almost completely only 3s.
We had a blast at this event despite only one day of racing and the second day consisting mostly of snacking and swimming while waiting for breeze that never arrived. It was by far the tightest and most competitive Women’s fleet we have raced in! Congratulations to Sally Garrett and Mariner Insurance Sailing Squad for claiming the title!
