Last Youth Events! Ageing Rapidly...

Centreport Youth International

We’ve just wrapped up the Centreport Youth International Match Racing Championships in Wellington - Oakley and Megan’s very last youth regatta! Day 1 started off slow for us with a few mistakes around the track in light and shifty breeze. Day 2 we pieced it together and went undefeated in the second round robin. Day 3 was semifinals and finals day - we raced Max McLachlan in the Semis before taking on Robbie McCutcheon in the Finals. Thank you to the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club for putting on a great event, to the volunteers and umpires. Our greatest thanks to coach Trubi & Reuben, it was a privilege to have both of you with us! Congrats to Robbie and team for taking out the win! Last but definitely not least cheers to Oakley for joining the team the last couple of events!

Harken Youth International

The Harken Youth International Match Racing Championship was one to test everyone’s patience!

But after spending the week prior in level 3 lockdown we were stoked to get on the water despite the light and frustrating conditions. Unfortunately, we lost a day of racing to the lack of breeze and were not able to finish the Quarterfinals which left us in 6th overall. Thanks to the Race Management team, Umpires & Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS) for a great week of racing. Thank you to Bex Gmuer Hornell and Oakley Marsh for joining our team for the event and of course a big congratulations to KNOTS racing for the win!

RPNYC Youth Nationals

2.0 Youth Team had a blast at the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club Youth Nationals. We’re kicking ourselves over the loss of a few Ws and the inability to finish the 2nd round robin but happy to wrap up yesterday winning all our races and finishing overall in 5th. Thanks to all the umpires, organisers and volunteers who worked so hard all week! Also a big thank you to the Hume-Merry’s for housing us and spoiling us rotten during our stay.
