Lots to learn - NZ Women's National Keelboat Championships
Updated: May 21, 2019
After an exciting first season competing in the RNZYS Dufor Ladies Series the 2.0 Racing Team was excited for the NZ Women's National Keelboat Championships to get underway. Day one proved to be tricky with shifty conditions creating many passing lanes and a great opportunity for learning. The team was buzzing with excitement for day two, sitting in 1st place on the score board over night.
Unfortunately race 8 saw the breeze dropping out bringing the fleet to a standstill, resulting in the finish of the first 3 boats only. Despite this the team was in high spirits and ready for day 3.
The last day of the championships treated us well, bringing champagne sailing. One race with a few mishaps in processes on board resulted in a race result a bit deeper in the fleet than the team would have liked, however this provided us great debriefing content.
All in all it was a great experience and we felt privileged to be out there racing in such a large fleet of great women sailors. The 2.0 Racing Team would like to congratulate Sally Garrett and her team on such a great result.

Thank you to the Race Officer Brian Trubovich and his Race Management team for managing to get the series completed in such tricky conditions. Thank you to MRX Yachting for their support of the event and to the girls that joined our team for the weekend: Rachael Willison (Pit), Charlotte Porter (Pit), Emma Hyde (Mast) and Zoe Dawson (Main).
