Podium fininish at the 2020 NZ Women's Match Race Championships

Updated: Nov 7, 2020

The NZ Women's Match Race Championships was a blast. Three great days of racing against seven kiwi teams. We wrapped up day one and two ranked in second winning five out of six races in round-robin one and two, losing only to Samathan Norman and her team.

We were excited to race our fellow RNZYS Performance Programme members Edge Women's Match in the semifinals. The semis saw close racing with close finishes on the line. We found ourselves with two down going into race three. The third race was a tight one to begin with. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side, Megan's tiller completely broke off on the first downwind leg leaving her without steering and us without a chance of making the final.

After a tight, boat breaking, but exciting semis we went on to race Claudia Pierce in the petit finals, winning two-nil and securing third place for the Regatta. Thanks to the Race Management, Umpires, and the RNZYS for an awesome event. We also would like to thank Musto and Brandit Kiwi for our snazzy new team kit.

Congratulations to Samantha Norman and her team for taking out the event! Our team has made the promise to come back in 10-15 years with our little ones in tow.
