Meet The Team
Current Women's World Ranking : 21
From a variety of different sailing backgrounds, the 2.0 racing team was formed in June 2019 with a combined competitiveness and drive for success. Drawn to the fast paced, boat on boat action of match racing, the team has aspirations to compete on the world stage at the pinnacle of women's sailing.

Skipper
Megan Thomson
24 years old, Megan is currently working as the Race Manager at the RNZYS. Megan fell in love with sailing when her father introduced her to double-handed dinghies. She progressed up through single-handed fleets before finding match racing and a great group of girls to yacht with (now known as 2.0 Racing). When Megan's not sailing, you will find her scaling cliffs, mountain biking, or first in line at the ice cream store.

Mainsheet
Ellie Copeland
26 years old, Ellie has spent much of her life on, in and around the water. She is thankful to have had the opportunity to sail a range of classes both locally and internationally, including a campaign towards the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 49erFX. She is now loving the new challenges that match racing brings. During the week she keeps herself busy working as a senior consultant in one of NZs leading market research and insight agencies. Ellie can often be found winging, kitesurfing or hiking. Ellie also enjoys (not so secretly) nerding out playing board games.

Trimmer
Anna Merchant
23 years old, Anna has accumulated an impressive tally of offshore, coastal and ocean miles for her age. She is currently part of three successful racing teams in Auckland as a trimmer on the Melges40, co skipper in two handed racing, and a trimmer in our 2.0 team, you’ll find her out on the water more often than not! Her love for the sport started at a young age but if she’s not on the water, you could catch her under it free-diving or surfing exploring the beautiful NZ coastline.

Trimmer
Chelsea Rees
24 years old, Chelsea grew up on the water, sailing around the Hauraki Gulf with her parents. Chelsea's first taste of competitive racing at 9 years of age lead to her progressing through various classes ranging from optimists to foiling catamarans to 40ft racing yachts. Chelsea is known for making the most of any weather conditions with an array of water sports at her disposal including kitesurfing, foiling, and surfing. Off the water Chelsea is currently working as a solicitor at one of Auckland's top law firms

Trimmer / Team Mum
Lisa Dartnall
24 years old, Lisa has recently completed a masters degree in Marine Science and has been working as a dive instructor on Waiheke Island. Lisa started sailing at 9 years old, and could always be heard chatting away to her friends on the start line. Lisa's pure love for the sport adds many valuable attributes to the team, including the self proclaimed role of vibe booster and the ultimate snack provider.
